Since 1948

Ferguson Construction began in 1948, when founder Hugh Ferguson established a small construction company during the rise of Seattle’s post-World War II industrial boom. Initially specializing in remodels, the company quickly adapted to the region’s growing demand for innovative building techniques. In 1952, Ferguson erected its first tilt-up concrete building, marking a significant turning point and laying the foundation for a future of growth and innovation.

Upon Mr. Ferguson’s retirement in 1982, the company was acquired by long-time employee Gene Colin. Under Gene’s leadership, Ferguson expanded its operations significantly over the next 25 years extending its reach across the West Coast and into the Southwest. The company became known for its strong relationships with national "big box" retail clients and its ability to deliver large-scale, high-performance facilities on time and within budget.

In 2007, another long-tenured team member, Todd Vacura, joined Gene as part owner. Upon Gene's retirement in 2015, Todd became the full owner and currently serves as company President. With Todd's leadership came a strategic evolution in Ferguson’s service offerings, including expanded expertise in multi-story office buildings, hospitality facilities, and retail developments. This period marked the beginning of a broader, more diversified portfolio and a renewed focus on quality, innovation, and client service.

Ferguson has maintained a consistent commitment to craftsmanship, safety, and delivering value to clients. Over the past decade, the company has expanded its geographic footprint well beyond the Pacific Northwest, taking on projects in Idaho, Montana, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Oregon, California, Alaska, Oklahoma, and both North and South Dakota.
